yr pathetic vitriol for a share of the market that is less than ten per cent is hilarious! how afraid you must feel. get over it!
It’s got nothing to do with vitriol, or market share, or even Apple as a company or the products that they make, which are often excellent on their own merits. I just don’t understand why so many otherwise intelligent people revel...

Scots Language →
I may be ignorant but I’ve just found out that there’s a language called ‘Scots’ which is spoken by a signficiant population in Scotland. It is rather similar to English. Here is the Scottish Parliament Website in Scots. I can’t stop laughing.

!!! & Temper Trap & Passion Pit
Had two back-to-back school night gigs this week. The first was !!! with support from The Temper Trap (found that out a couple of hours before). After a 2 and a half train delay, the end of Temper Trap’s set was better than expected. I’d never heard them before and had pretty low expectations. The highlight was receiving a bluetooth message from them while they were on stage,...

Just signed up to my fifth Swedish class at Cactus Languages. I really can’t believe I’ve stuck with this for so long. It’s also the last class, or at least, they don’t offer any higher levels for Swedish.
I recently bought Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in Swedish. It has a pretty cover. I haven’t started reading it yet. It looks quite a bit...
I’ve been, for the couple of weeks, meaning to write a post on the probability of the upcoming tour going ahead. And, as much as I was expecting ‘something’ to go wrong, never this.
It’s sad; I had a massive soft spot for him. What a fucked life.
Vending Machine Win!
I got two Crunchies for the price of one today, thanks to the poor maintenance of the vending machine outside my office. It’s not the first time it’s happened, but definitely the first in the last few months. I had a great run there for a while, with Snickers. Of course, I’ll have to do this another 15 times to make up for my recent vending machine...

Patti Smith, Royal Festival Hall, Meltdown...
On Thursday night I skipped my beloved Swedish class to see Patti Smith play. I’d never seen/heard her before, but I was very impressed. Amazing performer. And a range of interesting guests.
Here’s a review someone else wrote: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/live-music-reviews/5578647/Patti-Smith-Festival-Hall-review.html
In my mad rush to make the 8:34 train this morning, I left my £8 change in the ticket vending machine. I’m trying to think of it as a Monday morning random gift of happiness to a stranger.

Plastic Ono Band
Just saw the Plastic Ono Band as part of Ornette Coleman’s Meltdown Festival. It was Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Cornelius and some cute Japanese girls and at various stages Antony Hegarty, Ornette Coleman and Mark Ronson.
I had no idea what to expect but really enjoyed it. Though at times I couldn’t help think that the Plastic Ono band would be much better with a little less Yoko. The...

I was going to do a post about the Tube Strike and me. I got lazy after reading this article that approximates my thoughts rather well.
Today I saw a Roller Blading commuter and it warmed my heart.
Are spellings like 'privatize' and 'organize'...
Found this randomly on the net. Found it really interesting…
No, not really. British spelling has always recognized the existence of variant spellings using the suffix -ize/-ise. When American spelling was standardized during the 19th century (mainly through the efforts of the great American lexicographer Noah Webster), the consistent use of -ize was one of the conventions that became...

Running The Numbers - Chris Jordan →
Running the Numbers looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone,...
